I am proud to present the following information:
Family name history

The German family name Kopsch is classified
as being of personal name origin. When a name is derived from
a personal name it is usually the name of the bearer's father
or mother which is adopted and transformed into a fixed hereditary
family name. This name is then proudly transmitted from generation
to generation, occasionally altered orthographically or abbreviated,
providing a link between the living bearer of the surname
and the original bearer of the eponymous personal name from
which the surname derives its origin. In this instance, the
name indicates that this family is descended from a man by
the first name of Kopsch. This name arose in the Est German
and Silesian territories as an East German/Slavic version
of the personal name Jakob, which itself is of Hebrew origin
and means "holder of the heel". This interpretation
is based on that the biblical Jacob is said to have been born
holding the heel of his twin brother Esau. The popularity
of forms of the name Jacob throughout medieval Europe was
inspired largely by the apostle by this name. Variants of
the surname Kopsch include Kopisch. One of the earliest references
to this name or to a variant is a record of the famous German
author August Kopisch (1799 1853), wo hailed from Breslau.
This name could of coarse have been mentioned at an earlier
date. Other notable bearers of this surname include the German
musician A. Kopsch who is mentioned in documents in the year
1854, as well as Friedrich Wilhelm Theodor Kopsch, born 1868,
a renowned German physician and publischer. During the wave
of immigration which took place in the nineteenth century,
this name was introduced into America. As early as in the
year 1869, for instance, we find a record of the emigration
of Albert, Ida, Hulda, Gustav, and William Kopisch to New
York.

KOPSCH 1600-1699
The actual information (2001) we have ower the Kopsch Family
is that theirt origin in Silesia (german: Schlesien, polish:
Slask). This part of Europa was during hundreds of years ravaged
of wars and borderfightings and the political affilately changed
many times.
In my paper the earliest notices about the KOPSCH family
are from the 17th century, but "the clan" must be
more older.
The blazon of arms (Wappen) show a rosary (Rosenkrants) around
the helmet what shows that the family confession from the
origin was Catolic.
Palatinate / Plalz 1648
The earliest bearer of the familyname Kopsch, is Hans
Leonhart Kopsch, who 12 April 1648 in Bad Durkheim, Palatinate
(Pfalz) married Lutheran to Ottilia
.
The name Leonhart (= Coeur de Lion / Löwenhertz) indicates
that he was of nobel family and it is possible that he was
